Margaid Privacy Policy

This policy covers data processed by Margaid, a Discord bot operated by philosolog as a non-commercial project.

Data collection and use

Submitted code: Code submitted through /typst is stored with the author's Discord user ID, a random render ID, and creation and modification timestamps to support editing, source access, LaTeX conversion, and deletion.
Preambles: Custom preambles are stored with the user's Discord ID and applied to subsequent renders.
Channel messages: New messages in accessible channels are checked for math or Typst code blocks. Matching content is rendered in memory without storage; other messages are ignored. Source requests retrieve the original message from Discord.
Interaction data: Discord provides user, server, and channel information to process commands and interactions. Usernames identify render authors; user IDs restrict editing and deletion to the author.
Logs: The hosting provider retains operational logs, including errors and render-request usernames, for debugging under its standard retention period.

Margaid does not sell, rent, or trade personal data, use advertising, analytics, or tracking, or use submitted code or messages to train AI models.

Retention and deletion

Submitted code: Deleted using the render's Delete button or by daily cleanup of records older than 24 hours, typically within 48 hours. Render buttons become unavailable and are removed after expiry.
Preambles: Retained until cleared by submitting an empty /config preamble.
Rendered images: Remain on Discord until deleted. The render's Delete button removes the image while available. Discord handles these images under its Privacy Policy.

Service providers

Discord: Delivers messages and interactions and hosts rendered images.
Vercel: Hosts the bot and processes renders.
Supabase: Stores submitted code and preambles.
Typst package registry: Receives package names and versions for imported packages, but not submitted code.

Providers process data as needed to operate the service and may process it in the United States or other countries. Data is not shared with other parties unless required by law.

Data requests

To request access to or deletion of stored account data, email hello@philosolog.com with your Discord user ID. Requests are handled within 30 days. Server administrators may remove Margaid to end its access to server messages.

Children

Margaid is not intended for children under 13 or below Discord's minimum age in their country. Report data submitted by a child to the contact address above for deletion.

Security

Incoming requests are verified as originating from Discord. Database credentials remain on the server. Security is not guaranteed; do not submit secrets or sensitive personal information.

Changes

Revisions will be published here with an updated effective date. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
